Release Notes

What's New in BaiFi

Every update to the captive portal, cloud dashboard, and router firmware β€” newest first. Units update in one click from the admin panel.

v1.3.31 Latest August 18, 2026
πŸ•’ Auto-recover from a wrong clock
  • Fixed — a unit stuck “offline” because of a wrong clock now corrects its own time automatically. On some networks the internet works for customers but the unit can’t sync its clock (the provider blocks the time service), so the unit can’t reach the cloud and shows offline even while customers browse. It now also reads the correct time from a normal web request when the usual time sync is blocked, so it recovers on its own — no site visit. A unit already stuck offline may still need one power-cycle to pick up this update first.
v1.3.30 August 17, 2026
⏸️ Pause always cuts (busy fix)
  • Fixed — Pause and time-up now always cut the internet, even on a busy unit. When many customers are connected the gatekeeper could report “busy” and a Pause or expiry was silently skipped, so some clients kept browsing. The unit now retries until it actually takes. The same fix makes a coin credit reliably open the internet under load.
v1.3.29 August 16, 2026
⏸️ Pause cuts internetπŸ”Š Custom coin sound🧾 Reset sales
  • Fixed — the internet now stops immediately when a customer taps Pause (and when paid time runs out). Before, an already-running video or download could keep playing for a while after Pause, so a customer could freeze their time yet still browse. The unit now cuts the live connection at once — paused or expired time can’t be used. No effect on active paying customers.
  • New — upload your own Insert-Coin sound. Settings → Insert-Coin Button Sound: add a short MP3/WAV/OGG clip that plays when a customer taps Insert Coin (blank = the built-in beep, which is also louder now).
  • New — Reset Sales button. The Sales page can now clear all transactions and set the counters back to ₱0 (with a confirm; export a CSV backup first).
v1.3.28 August 16, 2026
πŸ“Ά WiFi name keepsπŸ•’ Clock reliability
  • Fixed — your WiFi name (SSID) no longer resets to default after an update. Your chosen name is re-applied automatically; even if it briefly reverts, it comes right back.
  • Fixed — “activation failed / non-commercial” caused by a wrong clock. If a unit’s clock got stuck in the past, the secure link to the cloud failed (certificate looked “not yet valid”) and it couldn’t activate. The unit now keeps its clock correct (reliable time servers + auto-correct), so activation stays healthy.
v1.3.27 August 13, 2026
πŸ”— Time follows youπŸ”§ Anti-Tether fix
  • New — your time follows you across WiFi bands. When a phone hops between your 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi (normally seen as a brand-new device), the customer’s remaining time now carries over automatically — no lost minutes, no re-paying. The time moves to the new connection, never duplicates.
  • Fixed — Anti-Tethering now stays ON after a reboot. In v1.3.26 the toggle reset itself to off on restart; it now saves properly.
v1.3.26 August 13, 2026
🚫 Anti-Tethering
  • New — Anti-Tethering (Admin → Speed). Stop a customer from sharing their paid WiFi to other devices via phone hotspot / tether. Off by default. If your access points are in bridge mode, keep Max Hop 0 — bridges are transparent, so real customers are never affected; only tethered devices are blocked. (Best paired with the per-device Speed Limit.)
v1.3.25 August 13, 2026
πŸ’œ GCash minimum⏱️ Tidy times
  • New — set your own GCash/Maya minimum amount. It was fixed at ₱20; now you can allow ₱5, ₱10, or as low as ₱1 (Rates & Portal), so more of your packages appear for GCash. (Your gateway may reject very tiny charges — ₱5–₱10 is safe.)
  • Change — the GCash package list now shows time as Day/Hour/Minutes (e.g. 3h 0m), matching the rates table and the printed voucher.
v1.3.24 August 13, 2026
πŸ’œ GCash pay before connecting
  • New — open GCash & tap “Pay Now” even before you have internet. The captive portal now lets an unpaid customer reach the GCash/Maya payment page without needing their own mobile data — a tight walled garden opens only the payment & cloud sites (including GCash’s Alipay+ CDN), everything else stays blocked until they pay. (The router itself still needs internet; if the whole unit is offline, only coin & voucher work. On iPhone, open the payment in Safari to launch the GCash app.)
v1.3.23 August 12, 2026
⏱️ No dead time after update
  • Fixed — no more ~20-minute internet outage after an update or power-cut. These routers have no battery-backed clock, so after a reboot the time was wrong until it re-synced online — and while the clock was off, the portal could think every session had “expired” and hold customers offline. The unit now remembers the real time across reboots and won’t lock anyone out while it re-syncs. Internet is back right after boot.
v1.3.22 August 10, 2026
πŸ“Ά Rates table🎫 Kiosk fix
  • New — WiFi Rates as a clean table. The customer rate list is now a bordered Amount Β· Time Β· Data table. Time reads nicely (7h 0m, 1d 0h 0m) and Data shows the cap or Unlimited — in BaiFi’s own theme.
  • Fixed — kiosk push-button after a reflash. Reset Coin Counter now also clears the kiosk button’s guard, so one click makes coins credit and the button generate vouchers again.
v1.3.21 August 9, 2026
πŸ›‘οΈ Speed Limit🎫 Voucher UX
  • New — per-device Speed Limit. Cap each device's WiFi speed (new Speed page, in Mbps) so no single user hogs the line — everyone stays fast. Enforced by the router itself; set 0 for unlimited. Example: at 5 Mbps each, a 50 Mbps line comfortably serves ~10 users instead of 2–3 heavy ones eating everything.
  • Cleaner layout. Speed moved to its own page — removed from WiFi Rates & Settings. One speed for all devices.
  • Fixed. After redeeming a voucher (or finishing coins), the “accepted” screen now returns to the home screen automatically instead of lingering; also fixed a small text glitch there.
  • Fixed — adding time no longer drops the connection. Extending time (Add Time, kiosk, voucher or GCash) used to briefly cut the internet; it’s now seamless.
v1.3.20 August 9, 2026
☁️ Save to CloudπŸ“Ά Connectivity
  • New — “Save to Cloud” button. A customer who already inserted coins (without logging in) can link their running time to a cloud wallet from the connected screen. It keeps running here and auto-saves when they disconnect, usable at ANY BaiFi vendo. New phone numbers register automatically.
  • Fixed — “connected but no internet.” The captive-portal engine could get into a bad state; a fresh install resets it clean, and active sessions now self-heal every minute.
  • Anti-Tethering removed. It blocked real customers on WiFi repeater/extender/mesh setups (the extra hop lowers TTL like a phone hotspot does). Any leftover blocking rule is cleared on this update.
  • Expired vouchers are now auto-cleaned, and the coin DONE screen finishes faster.
v1.3.19 August 9, 2026
πŸ”„ Update reliability
  • On-device OTA & manual firmware update now work reliably. Before, an update could reach 100% but “do nothing” (the unit rebooted still on the old version) because it ran with a minimal PATH and couldn’t find the flash tool. It now uses a full PATH + a reliable download URL, keeps a persistent update log, and allows more time for large uploads.
v1.3.18 August 8, 2026
🎫 Voucher fixesπŸ–¨οΈ KioskπŸ”’ Anti-Tethering
  • Vouchers no longer show “invalid” or “already used” by mistake. Codes are now dash-free (what’s printed is what you type), redeeming works with or without the dash, and a double-tap by the same device no longer errors. Covers kiosk & voucher-generator codes.
  • Coin board: auto-cut now fires reliably, and you can press the button to clear the voucher code from the LCD immediately for privacy. (Reflash the ESP8266 coin board.)
  • Anti-Tethering forced OFF (it blocks real customers on repeater/extender setups), GCash no longer shows a false “payment not found” after paying, and the announcement marquee now defaults to off.
v1.3.17 August 5, 2026
πŸ”’ Anti-Tethering safe default
  • Anti-Tethering is now OFF by default. On a WiFi repeater/extender/mesh the extra network hop lowers TTL the same way tethering does, so v1.3.16's ON-by-default could block real customers. This update turns it off automatically; re-enable it only on direct-connect vendos (Settings β†’ Anti-Tethering).
v1.3.16 August 5, 2026
πŸ”’ Anti-Tethering
  • Anti-Tethering β€” one device per paid session. Blocks a customer from re-sharing their paid WiFi via hotspot or tether. Toggle in Settings β†’ Anti-Tethering (OFF by default). Note: do not enable it if you use a WiFi repeater/extender/mesh β€” the extra hop lowers TTL the same way tethering does and would block real customers.
  • Fixed slow Insert Coin on wired PCs & laptops. The portal now identifies a LAN device instantly (DHCP-lease fallback + ARP refresh) instead of occasionally missing it and making the customer retry β€” wired clients now respond as fast as phones.
  • Auto-cut paper option for the thermal printer β€” sends an ESC/POS cut after each receipt on printers that have a built-in cutter (Settings β†’ Thermal Printer).
  • Automatic database cleanup. Finished sessions older than 30 days are pruned automatically so the router stays small & fast β€” sales history (kept in a separate ledger) is untouched.
  • Editable receipt instruction line. Customize the how-to text on the printed voucher (Settings β†’ Thermal Printer) β€” add your own FB page or contact number.
v1.3.15 August 4, 2026
πŸͺ™ Coin fix🧾 ReceiptπŸ“Ÿ Kiosk
  • Fixed "coin accepted but no credit" on the phone/portal β€” new Reset Coin Counter button in Pin Setting. Click it after you flash or replace a coin board.
  • Editable receipt Header & Footer β€” put your WiFi name (big) on top and a thank-you line at the bottom, right from Settings β†’ Thermal Printer.
  • Kiosk LCD now blinks "> INSERT COIN <" with clearer English prompts, connects faster after DONE, and the announcement marquee is on by default.
v1.3.14 August 4, 2026
πŸͺ™ JuanFi coin fix
  • Groundwork for JuanFi-style coin boards (Coin Signal Type). The reliable fix for "coin accepted but no credit" ships in v1.3.15 above.
v1.3.13 August 4, 2026
🎰 JuanFi-compatible
  • JuanFi-compatible Pin Setting β€” Coinslot, Bill Acceptor, Set Pin, Relay Trigger (HIGH/LOW), LEDs (with NONE), Night Light, Buzzer. JuanFi coin boards are plug-and-play (Coinslot D4, Set Pin D8).
  • LCD Setting β€” screen size (16Γ—2 / 20Γ—4 / NONE) plus welcome, insert-coin and thank-you text.
  • Land on the live Connected screen after paying; insert-coin timer default now 60s.
v1.3.12 August 4, 2026
πŸ“Ά Local WiFi rename
  • Rename your WiFi name (SSID) straight from the on-router admin β€” works even when the cloud is offline. The IoT / coin-board WiFi stays untouched.
v1.3.11 August 3, 2026
πŸͺ™ Hybrid coins
  • Hybrid coin pricing β€” keep bulk packages and stop wasting odd coins. Coins above a package (and below the cheapest) earn the flat β€œMinutes per β‚±1” rate, so every peso counts. e.g. β‚±17 = your β‚±10 package + β‚±7 at the flat rate.
v1.3.10 August 3, 2026
⭐ Loyalty Points
  • Loyalty Points β€” reward regulars: each rate can grant points, and customers redeem accumulated points for free time. Set points per rate, and manage redemption tiers, right from the dashboard.
  • Customers see their points balance and a one-tap Redeem screen on the captive portal.
v1.3.9 August 3, 2026
πŸ–₯️ Kiosk mode
  • Kiosk mode β€” a fully self-service coin vendo with an LCD 20Γ—4 and a push button, for customers with no phone. Tap the button to start, drop coins (the total shows live on the LCD), then tap again to print a voucher automatically.
  • Editable welcome text on the kiosk LCD, plus button & LCD pin settings in the dashboard β€” no reflashing to configure.
v1.3.8 August 3, 2026
πŸ› οΈ Fix
  • Reliable OTA updates β€” fixed a case where a unit would finish the update and reboot but stay on the old version. Updates now flash dependably.
v1.3.7 August 3, 2026
πŸ–¨οΈ HardwareπŸ› οΈ Tools
  • Thermal printer support β€” print vouchers on the coin board for walk-up customers with no phone. Set the pin, baud rate & print options in the admin, so any printer works.
  • Configurable coin board pins β€” remap the coin, relay & LED pins from the dashboard to match any board wiring, no reflashing.
  • Upload firmware from your computer β€” flash a unit that can't download the image itself (great for remote units), plus a Reboot button that works remotely and a confirm-password check.
v1.3.6 August 3, 2026
πŸ”§ FixesπŸ“¦ Firmware
  • Fixed: a unit now reports the correct version right after an OTA update (it previously kept showing the old version even though the new firmware was running).
  • New: Thermal Printer settings in the admin β€” set the pin, baud rate & print options for a receipt/voucher printer on the coin board, so any printer works without reflashing.
v1.3.5 August 2, 2026
🎨 Portal
  • Brand-new dark captive portal β€” aqua "Insert Coin", cleaner CONNECTED/DISCONNECTED status, and icon rows for MAC Β· IP Β· Coins Β· Time.
  • Two-column button grid that auto-reflows β€” when you turn off GCash/Maya, the remaining buttons rearrange to fill the space neatly.
  • Connected screen with a live countdown timer, plus Add Time and Pause & Save.
  • New default header image, and uploaded headers now auto-shrink to a small file β€” no more slow, heavy portals.
v1.3.4 August 1, 2026
☁️ CloudπŸ“¦ Firmware
  • Coin pricing follows your Packages table β€” a β‚±5 coin gives exactly your β‚±5 package (added a β‚±1 tier too, so β‚±1 works).
  • Cloud licenses: assign by Gmail, create in bulk quantities, and Transfer a license to another account so buyers can resell.
  • One-click firmware update straight from the admin panel β€” pulls the latest automatically, with an animated progress screen.
  • Website downloads auto-update from the cloud β€” always the newest firmware, no manual links.
v1.3.0 – 1.3.3 July 2026
πŸ“¦ FirmwareπŸ”§ Stability
  • Rock-solid WiFi β€” unified 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz under one "BaiFi" name, so phones stop hopping and dropping.
  • Automatic Asia/Manila time and an accurate CPU-load display in the admin panel.
  • License enforcement always on with a 2-day trial for new units, plus GCash / Maya e-payments.
